Wellington Equine Services offers laboratory analysis through remote laboratories. A sample
(such as blood, biopsy, etc.) will be collected from your horse on the farm and sent to a laboratory.
The results will be reported to you as soon as we receive them. The turn around time varies
depending on the test performed but most results are available the next day.
Fecal Egg Counts
We do perform Fecal Egg Counts in house. All that is required of you is a sample. Two to three fecal balls are needed and can be kept in a refrigerator for up to a week before analysis.
Many of our clients are now using fecal egg count to monitor parasites in their herd, this has had the positive e result of deworming less frequently and thus saving a lot of money. This method ensures that your horses are not harboring drug resistant parasites which could impact their health.
